Menopause Specialist In Fairfield County | CT menopause Care

I’m a board-certified, NYU-trained internist and menopause specialist in Fairfield County who treats women from Fairfield, Westport, New Canaan, Ridgefield, Greenwich and throughout Connecticut and New York.

I am a Menopause Society Certified Provider. I provide evidence-based, individualized care that includes hormone therapy, non-hormonal treatments, and lifestyle guidance.

When I entered perimenopause, I struggled to find a provider to help with my symptoms. The process was frustrating and difficult. Eventually, I found one, and starting hormone therapy was life-changing!

That is why I created my practice specifically tailored to treating women in perimenopause and menopause with the goal of giving them the time and support they need during this transition.

I'm a board-certified, NYU-trained internist specializing in the care of women in perimenopause and menopause.
After experiencing my own personal perimenopausal health challenges, I became dedicated to treating women in midlife.

Best regards,
Shari Weisenfeld, MD

Frequently Asked Questions

Why go to a private-pay practice?

CT Menopause Care is a private-pay medical practice. Because visits are not limited by insurance-based appointment structures, I am able to spend dedicated time understanding your symptoms, medical history, concerns, and treatment goals. The cost of your visit is paid directly to CT Menopause Care. Prescriptions are sent to your pharmacy and may be covered by your insurance. Blood tests and imaging may be billed through your insurance depending on the facility and your plan. Superbills are available for patients who wish to submit claims for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Can I use my FSA or HSA to pay for my visits?

We do accept FSA/HSA payments for visits. We recommend checking with your FSA/HSA provider to confirm eligibility.

How are laboratory test results handled by your office?

Laboratory results from Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp are reviewed promptly upon receipt. You can view the results in the portal. If findings require timely discussion or clinical follow-up, you will be contacted to schedule a 20-minute video or in-person Laboratory Results Visit at $175. If there are no urgent or clinically significant issues identified, your laboratory results will be reviewed with you at your next scheduled visit. If however, you would like to discuss the results sooner, you are welcome to schedule a 20-minute video or in-person Laboratory Results Visit at $175.

What are your cancellation and "no-show" policies?

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the appointment time. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a $200 cancellation fee. Failure to arrive for a scheduled appointment may result in a $200 fee.

Do you care for women with a history of breast cancer and other hormone-sensitive cancers?

Yes. Menopause symptoms can be especially challenging for women with a history of hormone-sensitive cancer. I provide individualized evaluation and can discuss non-hormonal treatment options and, when appropriate, local vaginal therapies. Treatment decisions are made based on your medical history and, when appropriate, in coordination with your oncology team.
